review was entertaining.. well those dollar figures really looks like they were in budget, even the figures look kinda malnourished. anyway some figs really caught my attention, stormshadow looks really good. snake eyes needs help with his suit, fashion police needed! black costume cobra commander and cobra trooper looks really classy! weapons for this figure is the only downside of this figs huh.

6pack goodness. these came in at the most opportune time between the end of the POC line and the wait for the retaliation figures. not really that cheap mind you but good enough to spend your money on just the same.
all the figures are severely lacking in gear but the potential army build is what makes it attractive. many of those who got these in packs of 6 aren't letting go of the pieces. even cc isn't showing up much on the for sale forums. goes to show that a simple black recolor can do wonders for your collection (if you prefer this one over the cc in the resolute 5 pack).
the non-appearance of the quintessential filecard does show how cheap hasbro is making these in terms of packaging. same cardbacks for all six means cutting costs on printing 6 different cardbacks.
i just pray the recolors of these also reach our shores. a green shippy and green se would be nice additions to anyone's collection.

Was about to make a review of this Dan but you beat me to it... but you did a good job!
My thoughts on the set... ranking it from best to worst.
1. Cobra Trooper - Up to this date I have yet to acquire a night force cobra trooper. Its really surprising to see a color change can do for a figure. The black, silver & gray really works well.
2. Storm shadow - I think any Joe fan who already has the 30th Ren SS will agree that this version is a easy target for ninja army building. The mold & articulation speaks for itself. The gear that came with it just hits the spot for a generic ninja
3. Duke - a potential green shirt army builder, a quick head swap & we now have grunt.
4. Snake Eyes - had it not been snake eyes, this would have probably be one of the weakest in the set. To me he lacks the weapons department really bad.
5. Shipwreck - I'm a fan of the poc w3 snake eyes mold. And a color different from the original is fine with me. Great base for army building a naval crew.
6. Cobra Commander - if not for the set I would not have bit to buying another CC. But I was surprised by the figure. I was assuming that it was a direct repaint of the comic pack wth tripwire. But upon checking, we get a different arms w/ swivel hinged wrist and new set of legs.
Its really a great set.
I also love the fact that it came with a unmarked figure stand. Though its unusual to have a GI Joe without a file card to read about the character.

very true.. the fact that they will be distributed to dollarstores would be that these would be for the wider lower income bracket, making it more affordable to most consumers. Face it, 10usd poc/30th figs vs 5usd figs is very enticing to collectors and young alike. I dont mind the lack of weapons...just as long as the figure is well made and better quality. They can introduce weapon packs in the future anyway

nice concise review dan!
I believe it was supposed to be cheap. its ironic we are 3rd world we get these for 8usd compared to price point in the US dollar stores to be 5 usd or even less. Marvel figures sold there have the same pricepoint.
Still, we cant help the demand of scalping and exploitation for sought figures such as these. Already, single packs are sold in selected areas and i doubt we can get ready stock for it.
also with the cardbacks , template to bring down costs for its manufacture.

no need bro dan.... you already did a good job with the great dio story to go with the review...
as for dollar exclusives, some collectors in the states think that these are knock-offs or imitations...
well i hope we get to see more of these in the future... with the gear that we got from POC, there's enough for every dollar exclusive figure...

honestly, you guys like joe figs w lots of accessories because you really play with the figure and use all the accessories, lets say for example the POC figs w tons of accessories.. ?
Or you like joe figs w lots of accessories because you feel you're getting your money's worth?
i just want to be enlightened since im an MOC collector.

^ well imo the reason why I like having alot of accessories is that they have more play value and at the same time you're getting your money's worth and you can use the extra weapons for the figures that need them like the 30th Cobra trooper's extra pistol 'cuz you can use that for the night watch cobra trooper
Tough mariners like Shipwreck don't need no stinkin' straps to carry backpacks, they connect straight through their spines!
But in all seriousness, good looking figs, all of 'em. Even the SE and SS Ffigs look decent - y'know, despite all that 10+ years worth of notoriety of the Ninja Force subline as consisted of purely bad figs.

Shucks, wanted to read this one, but looks like it's a really popular review. The photo links have died.
Saw a lone Cobra Commander at Galleria and saw the rest of them on the back of the card. Wish I could have gotten at least Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. They look pretty good for what they cost.

For me, it's a little of both. With toy prices going up, I feel gypped when companies try to sell me a figure with nothing included when similar figures have tons of gear with them. For Marvel figures it's less of an issue since most superheroes really don't carry a lot of gear, but even then, an energy effect is nice to have.
I also agree with @mrwarmachine18 that it's about play value. If you have one gun, there's only one way to display a figure. If you have two then there's several ways you can do it. If you have as much gear as one of the POC Alley Vipers?
Now that's a fun day.
So yeah, if you're an opener, accessories are one of the big issues. In my book, it's right up there with articulation and sculpting. Higher even than QA.

Honestly... I like Joes with lots of weapons that can be carried by the figure all at the same time... A good example is lowlight and lifeline. It really bugs me when there is an excess weapon that the figure can't carry, hence, it goes to a little plastic bag with label so it won't get mixed with other parts. I usually just display my figs, I don't fiddle with them a lot. Cartoon - Vintage figure accuracy is also a plus... lovin' what they did with sci-fi and boxset shipwreck...
A good example of Joe with lots of useless parts is temple guardian snake eyes.
