there are other great and undiscovered players in the D-league that just needs a big break, it just shows that a team doesnt need a big name superstar to gather up wins in the win / loss column. imagine lin carrying the team in amare's absence..

3 of 4 evzents are just ok.. The slam dunk ruined it. Lockout is just an excuse. Its good to see Allan Houston still has the touch. He didnt look old too.

One of the worst Slam Dunk Contest I've seen.
Derrick Williams attempt in passing the ball to himself using the backboard catching in mid-air to do a between the legs dunk is very unconvincing. He made too many failed attempts. He only exhausted himself and should've just settled with just the regular between the legs or a 360 or a 540. But he did accomplish the Ricky Rubio pass hitting the side of the backboard catch ball in air then 360 dunk. Blake Griffin was attempting that last year with Baron Davis and was not successful so he settled for the windmill instead.
Paul George's Glow in the Dark 360 was never seen.. literally.
Don't know what happened to Iman Shumpert.
I thought Chase Budinger was gonna leap from the freethrow line just like Brent Barry.
Jeremy Evans, late addition, eventually won.

I think there was an issue from the longest time that the prize money for the Slam Dunk Contest (if there still is), is not very attractive to most players. I've been watching All Star games since i was a kid and i see from TNT's broadcast that back then in the late 90's they even show "prize money" on 3-point Shootout contest and Slam Dunk contest.. Now i don't see any prize money postings from TNT's broadcast.
Given chance to win NBA’s 2012 All-Star game, LeBron James takes a pass http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ap....allstar_0227 12
Quote:| Now Kobe was within inches, screaming into James’ face, “Shoot the [expletive] ball!” And, still, LeBron’s instincts weren’t to take ball and deliver it down Bryant’s throat. Score on Kobe, win the game and tell him to go to hell. Bryant would respect that. |
|
Quote:So would Michael Jordan. Magic Johnson. Larry Bird. LeBron James is different. He’s probably better than all of them, but nothing in his DNA demanded that he go after Bryant there, that he destroy him in that moment.
“Yeah, he was telling me to shoot it,” James said. “I wish I could have that one back.” |
|
^wow, i didn't know Kobe was telling him.. challenging him like that in the end game.. With 36 pts and streaky 3pt shooting, LBJ decides to throw a crazy cross court pass?. Basically, If a player has that hot shooting he should take the last shot. it's obvious.
Does LeBron don't believe in greater risks means greater rewards? it's only an All-Star game but still, all greatest player are there and it poses as a "chance" to make statements. Wade did one to Kobe, and i didn't like it. But it's a NBA All-Star Game record first.. to draw blood that is.. hehehe.
Congrats Kobe for surpassing MJ's All-Time Record in Scoring in NBA All-Star game history.

A boring all-star weekend... IMO, scrap the Dunk Contest altogether. There's no excitement anymore, maybe because everything's been done or it's much more exciting really to see dunks during a game.
I'd probably prefer a 2-on-2 game... or even a game of H.O.R.S.E.

In my opinion, it's gonna be one of the most controversial All-Star game in the NBA. It was exciting to the last shot.

You're right. If LeBron took it... and made it.. He's like sending a message to the entire league that this year belongs to him. It's becoming quite late for LBJ, considering the fact that he hasn't got any rings yet. Being the so-called "The Chosen One" or "Basketball Messiah" is fading away. He's like the Avatar who doesn't want to be the Avatar. The high expectations for LBJ is somehow fading away.

I agree that they should sneak in some new challenges: 2 on 2, etc.
